Friends Of Veterans- Mission Statement

Who We Are and Why

Our FOUR-PART Mission:
Dedication , Conduit (Pipeline, Umbrella), Spotlight , and Flagpole .
  1. Dedication : That no USA Veteran (none) shall ever be homeless, without a job, without health benefits, without a highschool diploma or without a college diploma if he or she can qualify, without special help to access deserved veteran benefits, without special help in the now digital world, and without Friendship! a.To achieve these goals our theme is Friendship, and we've a theme song, the famous Cole Porter song Friendship: Friendship. Friendship. Just a perfect blendship. When other friendships have been forggotten, ours will still be great. (You can hear the great original song sung by Ethel Merman and Bert Lahr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjdgV2Uf9wY&feature=related or by Ethel Merman alone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjdgV2Uf9wY&feature=related )
  2. Conduit (Pipeline, Umbrella): We will scour the Internet and C-Span Cable for Breaking News that veterans and friends of veterans may not be aware of. We will be the Umbrella Source for such news.
  3. Spotlight : We will HIGHLIGHT and Spotlight special items that could and should relate to veteran opportunities that both vets and friends of vets should explore. For example: the brand new, non-partisan Digital Learning Council headed by former Republican Governor Jeb Bush and former Democratic Governor Bob Wise that could provide on-line highschool and college diplomas for veterans. Another example: astounding learning expert Gene Maeroff who has a just-published book on American School Boards. Maeroff is President of a local New Jersey School Board, and we'll be in touch with him about how School Boards can and should be of help to local veterans.
  4. Flagpole : We will bring to attention certain key ideas that affect veterans and friends of veterans (that are often controversial and that Friends of Vets don't necessarily foster). We'll just "run them up the flagpole" to see if they can help or hurt veterans and friends of veterans. For example, all veterans and friends of veterans are concerned with the growing US deficit, which is in the trillions and threaten Social Security, Medicare, and health care in general. We'll run up the flagpole the idea of Donald Trump and David Stockman about a tax on wealth but only on multi-millionaires and billionaires. (Stockman is the former wizz-kid budget director of Ronald Reagan.) Is this millionaire wealth tax that Trump and Stockman say can bring in trillions or is it some class-warfare scheme that is unethical, impractical, and perhaps unconstitutional? Let's run it up the FOV flagpole and explore it. You don't have to be a veteran to become a member of Friends of Veterans. You just have to be a friend!
